Inaugurato nel 2008 come secondo resort nell'esclusivo complesso recintato a uso misto a nord di Puerto Vallarta, il St. Regis Punta Mita offre un layout meno ampio rispetto al suo vicino concorrente, oltre al suo esclusivo servizio di maggiordomo St. Regis che attirerà coloro che cercano sobrietà servizio personale di lusso e personalizzato.
La tua introduzione al St. Regis Punta Mita si svolge in un accogliente stile "Sei arrivato" all'inizio della tua vacanza. All'ingresso, la proprietà si rivela in curve sensuali che abbracciano il vialetto circolare e offrono scorci di vista sull'oceano. All'arrivo nella hall e consegnando le chiavi della macchina a un parcheggiatore, se necessario, verrai accolto con un asciugamano freddo e un drink di benvenuto. Non c'è una vivace scena di bagagli come è tipico in molte lobby. Invece, l'arrivo è un processo di seduta civile condotto senza soluzione di continuità mentre si osserva il panorama.
Una scintillante piscina riflettente fiancheggiata da palme mature fa una serie di gradini dalla hall collinare fino a una delle tre piscine a sfioro e all'Oceano Pacifico. Quando è il momento di andare nella tua stanza, il tuo maggiordomo dedicato probabilmente guiderà il carrello e ti mostrerà come funziona tutto. Lui o lei sarà quindi di guardia durante il tuo soggiorno.
A 22 acri, il St. Regis è meno tentacolare del Four Seasons, quindi è meno probabile vedere i golf cart che sfrecciano intorno alla proprietà oltre al check-in e al check-out. La scena gastronomica è uno dei momenti salienti del resort. Il St. Regis offre una scelta di numerosi ristoranti e cene private in camera. Il ristorante esclusivo del resort, Carolina, è l'unica esperienza culinaria AAA Five Diamond a Punta de Mita.
All'altra estremità della scala c'è il divertente e informale Mita Mary Boat Bistro. Il bar e la cucina sono in realtà all'interno dello scafo di una vecchia barca dipinta di blu e bianco, con sedie sparse per l'area della spiaggia sabbiosa in modo da poter vivere una vera esperienza con le dita dei piedi nella sabbia. Naturalmente serve un sacco di pesce alla griglia e cocktail divertenti e fruttati. È un luogo popolare per guardare il tramonto e poi godersi una conversazione con del buon cibo sotto le luci delle corde in riva all'oceano.
Altri due ristoranti hanno una vista sull'oceano da un po' più indietro. Il ristorante Sea Breeze era in fase di ristrutturazione durante la mia visita e emergerà più luminoso e migliore. Si trova sopra la piscina del Beach Club e serve tutti i pasti quando l'occupazione è alta. Accanto alla piscina per famiglie del resort si trova l'informale Las Marietas, che propone specialità messicane regionali e ottime colazioni. C'è una sala da pranzo al coperto che ha un'atmosfera da serra con le sue pareti di vetro, ma ancora più sedie e tavoli situati sul prato che si affaccia sulle palme e sul mare.
Infine, c'è un'opzione messicana di alto livello per cena solo nel complesso della hall e un piccolo bar vegetariano sulla spiaggia aperto durante il giorno. Il servizio è stato eccellente in ogni punto vendita durante il mio breve soggiorno ei menu sono abbastanza vari da mantenere le cose interessanti per una vacanza di una settimana.
Il mio unico cavillo con questa proprietà del Marriott è che non sembrano fare molto per affrontare i problemi di sostenibilità a parte un cenno agli ingredienti di provenienza locale qua e là nei ristoranti. Stanno ancora rifilando una dozzina di bottiglie d'acqua monouso al giorno (o più) a ogni ospite, in ogni punto ristoro, a bordo piscina e in spiaggia. Non c'è posto per riempire la tua bottiglia con acqua purificata in qualsiasi parte della proprietà per rimanere idratati, anche in palestra.
Il St. Regis ha una scena per bambini relativamente più piccola rispetto al Four Seasons, che molte coppie che viaggiano senza nessuno vedranno come un vantaggio. Questo resort sembra attirare più di una folla di coppie e uomini d'affari. L'assenza del trambusto della clientela pint'ize contribuisce a creare un'atmosfera di calma tranquillità nelle aree comuni. La piscina per famiglie è di gran lunga la più grande, ma non rinunci a molto altro quando ti ritiri in quella per soli adulti: ha una vista sull'oceano simile e opzioni di sedie a sdraio. Coloro che cercano ancora più isolamento possono ritirarsi in una cabina privata a bordo piscina (a un costo aggiuntivo elevato).
La tranquillità è anche il motto del grande complesso Remede Spa, che offre trattamenti tradizionali e terapie esclusive di ispirazione locale. Le strutture termali includono nove sale per trattamenti, una suite spa, oltre a aree sauna e bagno turco con sale interne ed esterne per il relax. Tutta la mia tensione è svanita dopo un po' di tempo in quelle zone e un caratteristico massaggio Abhyanga con oli essenziali ayurvedici, completo di un'abbondante impastamento concentrato per sciogliere i muscoli e migliorare la circolazione.
Le opzioni ricreative includono due campi da golf Jack Nicklaus che sono conosciuti come alcuni dei migliori in Messico, aperti solo ai residenti e agli ospiti di Punta Mita. Hai anche accesso al centro tennis Punta Mita, raggiungibile in bici o golf cart. La palestra qui è eccellente, con ampie attrezzature cardiovascolari e pesi. Il resort ha spesso attività programmate come aerobica in acqua, yoga, spinning, snorkeling guidato e lezioni di cucina/barista.
